Young People To Design Their Own Creative Projects
Creativity Works is partnering with the Holburne Museum in Bath to recruit and support young people from across Bath and North East Somerset to design their own creative projects. On the 29 July, we held a spray paint session in the gardens of the Holburne Museum with local artist Wei Ong aka Silent Hobo. 11 young people took part and created a stunning group artwork inspired by the permanent collection at the museum. Seven of these young people want to learn more about the RIRO project and to help shape creative projects in their communities.
Get Involved
We would like more young people aged 16-24 to join us. The next session is scheduled for early September at the Holburne Museum (exact date tbc). The project is open to any young person aged 16-24 who are struggling to find work due to loneliness, social disadvantage or mental health challenges. Any transport, access and support costs can be paid for. For more information please email Sarah James: sarah@creativityworks.org.uk
About This Project
In early Spring this year, a consortium of partners was awarded funding from Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund to pilot a new approach to young people volunteering in the arts and cultural sector. RIRO (Reach In Reach Out) is a project with young people aged 16-24 to explore creativity, wellbeing, community engagement and volunteering. We are working with partners in Bath, Bristol and Weston-super-Mare, and in each area young people will be involved in co-designing creative activities and opportunities that other young people will enjoy. We will all learn from each other about whether getting involved in creative activities can help wellbeing and encourage confidence and social connection.
