Title of activity: Exhibition Preview Fresh Art@ 2019

Details: This vibrant exhibition showcases the artwork that was created and inspired by workshops held at the Holburne, No. 1 Royal Crescent and The American Museum between February – April 2019.

“The Fresh Art@ project encourages individuals to create art, which enables growth in confidence, self-pride, well-being and camaraderie as a group.”

Fresh Art@ is an innovative partnership project that promotes positive wellbeing by engaging people who are facing mental health challenges to create artwork which is then used to enliven NHS environments.

Exhibition is open daily: 25th – 31st May 2019 12 – 5pm unless otherwise stated. (closed bank holiday Monday)

Title of activity: Fresh Art Rocks

Time of sessions: 10.30am – 12.30am and 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Details: Come along and try out Pebble Painting and Badge making. This workshop is raising awareness of mental health and busting the stigma. No experience necessary.

Title of activity: Clay Pot Making

Time of sessions: 12 – 2pm and 3 – 5pm

Details: Use simple pottery techniques to make a plant pot character in this fun relaxing workshop. Suitable for all ages 6 and up. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Details: Collage patterns and tessellation linked to patchwork patterns using paper and fabrics. No prior experience necessary.

Time of session: 11am – 1pm

Details: Take time out to photograph and view the world around you with fresh eyes and reflect on how this supports your wellbeing. Bring your camera, phone or tablet. No experience necessary.

Title of activity: Simple Decoupage

Time of session: 1pm – 3pm

Details: Simple Decoupage Techniques. Use colourful papers to transform ordinary shapes and objects. Simple arts and crafts to aid relaxation an destress. This session is run by volunteers from Creativity Works, St. Mungo’s and AWP. All materials provided.

Title of activity: CoCreate – Fresh Art@ Bath – a 5 year arts, health and heritage project

Time of session: 4 – 6pm

Details: Fresh Art@ project is a partnership project between Creativity Works, Avon & Wiltshire mental health trust and three museums in Bath. This session is an opportunity to experiment with some creative collage techniques from the current exhibition and to share the learning and hear about this innovative partnership project which supports mental health and wellbeing. This 5 year project has supported people to explore their creativity, both in the community museum-based settings and in on-ward hospital sessions and created further pathways to creative and cultural activities across Bath and North East Somerset. Partnership staff and participants will be sharing their learning.

Free creative workshops and activities to promote positive wellbeing and mental health

All events at this Address: The Roper Gallery, Bath Artists’ Studios, The Old Malthouse, Comfortable Place, Bath BA1 3AJ (no parking on site.

Finding Us: Bath Artists’ Studios is opposite Victoria Park, behind a row of terraced houses (Comfortable Place) which includes Phase One Gym. Turn down the lane marked ‘Onega Terrace’ which is at the end of Comfortable Place

On Foot: As you leave Bath city centre on the Upper Bristol Road you will pass Marlborough Lane on the right. Shortly after that is a pedestrian crossing, MOT centre and bus stop. Directly after the bus stop turn left down a lane (signposted Onega Terrace) and follow it round the corner. The entrance to the studios is diagonally across the yard.

By Bus: From the bus station: Nos.4/9/19/19A/37/X39

Get off at the ‘Comfortable Place’ stop. This is the fourth stop from the bus station.

By Car: There is disabled parking only at the building.

Charlotte Street car park is 10 minutes’ walk away. Some on street parking is available by Victoria Park and in the Park itself.
